FEES FOR PUBLICATION
The Food Science and Applied Biotechnology international journal uses open access only. This means permanent and free access to published scientific works for readers. Since its launch until June 30, 2024, the journal has charged no publication fees for authors; it has been 100% free.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION: Effective October 1, 2024, the Publisher (the Academic Publishing House of UFT Plovdiv) introduces a publication fee (payable in Bulgarian leva) equivalent to €100 VAT exclusive (converting EUR to BGN at the exchange rate valid on the day of the bank transfer or online payment) for accepted Open Access articles. All manuscripts submitted prior to this date will be processed as before, without a publication fee.

All articles are published under the CC BY4.0 license.

Authors are not charged any article processing fees, only a publication fee.  

Authors retain copyright of their work and allow their work to be shared and reused provided that it is correctly cited.

Readers anywhere in the world may download, share or use the work free of charge.

For authors from EU member countries, the provisions for VAT payment in the country of origin shall apply.

For all other authors, the fee will include 20% VAT and amount to €120 (its equivalent in Bulgarian leva).

The Academic Publishing House of the University of Food Technologies in Plovdiv also offers the following paid services to authors, which they can use if needed:

1) Fee for manuscript preparation (draft file) and proofreading of an article already accepted for publication: €100 VAT exclusive (€120 VAT inclusive, payable in its equivalent in Bulgarian leva) per article;

2) Fee for stylistic and grammatical English language correction of an article submitted for publication: €10 VAT exclusive (€12 VAT inclusive, payable in its equivalent in Bulgarian leva) for one standard page (a total of 1,800 characters per page).

The Open Access Platform of the Academic Publishing House of the University of Food Technologies in Plovdiv optimizes the exchange of ideas and provides valuable input to authors of limited financial means, giving everyone equal chances to publish and read high-quality scientific publications.

The Academic Publishing House of the University of Food Technologies in Plovdiv reserves the right to change its financial policy regarding publication fees or readers’ charges at any time.

PUBLISHING SCHEDULE
2 issues per year as follows:  in March and October

ACCESS
The journal offers platinum open access, which means permanent and 100% free of charge open access to published scientific papers for readers. All articles are published under the most flexible reusable standard, the CC BY 4.0 license.

ARCHIVING
In the event that the journal is no longer published, electronic archiving and preservation of access will be offered as open access on the website of the University of Food Technologies in Plovdiv.

REVENUE SOURCES
Revenues (e.g. funds for pre-press preparation and online publication of articles, subscription, advertising, reprints, institutional support and organizational support) will be accumulated by fees and supplemented by the University's research budget, which is approved on a yearly basis by the Parliament of the Republic of Bulgaria and guaranteed by the Bulgarian Government. Due to the fact that the journal only offers platinum free access and charges relatively low publication fees (payable in Bulgarian leva equivalent to €100 VAT exclusive), neither acceptance nor rejection of an article for publication will be influenced by commercial motives, but will be solely guided by the decisions of the independent peer review and the Publishing Ethics Policy of the Editorial Board. Publication fee payment will in no way affect the editorial decisions to accept for publication articles that do not meet the high standards of quality and scientific content.
