Process for Identification of and Dealing with Allegations of Research Misconduct

The Academic Publishing House of the University of Food Technologies in Plovdiv and the Food Science and Applied Biotechnology international journal maintain a policy on the identification of and dealing with research misconduct. It includes the following work processes:

  1. Identification of an incorrect or incomplete set-up of the experiment. It is determined by the Editor-in-Chief and the Sector Editor prior to the start of the Preliminary Assessment Procedure;

  2. Establishing non-compliance or incorrect application of the Ethics of the experiment (especially in human and animal experiments). It is established by the Editor-in-Chief and the Sector Editor prior to the start of the Preliminary Assessment Procedure. For more information on our Ethics Policy please refer to:

  3. Identification of missing, incomplete or insufficient statistical data analysis established by the Sector Editor and the Production Editor during the Preliminary Assessment Procedure;

  4. Establishing a significant volume of repetition, plagiarism or self-plagiarism of text and graphic images, figures, diagrams, etc. It is determined by the Production Editor and Editor-in-Chief during the Preliminary Assessment Procedure.   5. Establishing an author’s intervention and manipulation of photos or other graphic images. It is determined by the Production Editor during the Plagiarism Check conducted as part of the Preliminary Assessment Procedure. The Editor-in-Chief is alerted immediately.

  6. Establishing unregulated use of figures or tables from previous publications, without any permission for use, in violation of the Copyright Act and related rights. The Editor-in-Chief is alerted immediately. Authors are required to submit the necessary copyright permissions and licenses granted by the respective publisher or authors.

 Should any of the above circumstances occur, the Editorial Board shall decline the submission.

  1. Other cases of identification of and dealing with research misconduct. These fall within the remit of the Production Editor and Editor-in-Chief. In such events, actions are taken towards withdrawing or retracting the article from the journal's website.
